Murgul Plant

Mineral Research and Exploration Institute (MTA) decided to put mining fields into operation as of 1935 and they were transferred to Etibank in 1937. In 1951, the Plant was put into service by Etibank.

In 1971, Etibank transferred the mining field to its subsidiary, the Karadeniz Bakir Inc. (KBI). In 2006, it was purchased by Cengiz Holding. Eti Bakir Murgul Plant is in the district of Murgul, within the province of Artvin.

The copper ore mined from the ore beds in Murgul is transformed into copper concentrates and transported as pulps to the filtering and drying facilities in Hopa via two pipelines. In Hopa, the concentrates are filtered and dried and then taken to material stock area. They are then shipped from the port in Hopa.

Additionally, the Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) in Murgul Mine has 24.2 MW capacity and operates under our company which as the electricity generation licence. Eti Bakir Murgul Plant produces 3,500,000 mt all in copper ore and 130,000 mt copper concentrate per year.
