Depending on the procedures employed in processing the chalcopyrite copper ore found in the Eti Bakir Kure mines, first the pyrite-copper minerals are separated. While the copper minerals, separated in this phase, constitute the copper concentrate, pyrite minerals constitute the pyrite concentrate.
During the pyrite concentrate oxidizing roast, first SO2 then H2SO4 (sulphuric acid) is produced . The released iron-oxide is used in the cement and iron-steel industries.
