TURKEY'S LARGEST MINING AND METALLURGY OPERATION
Drilling operations by Eti Bakır A.Ş. are ongoing, reaching a depth of over 100 thousand meters a year. Plants acquired by Cengiz Holding within the scope of privatization include Eti Bakır A.Ş. Küre Plant and Samsun Plant in 2004, Murgul Plant in 2006 and Halıköy Plant in 2007. Annual production, which was 32,000 tons before privatization, increased to 70,000 tons as a result of investment and the implementation of automation systems. Following privatization, the Küre and Murgul mines were fully renovated by Cengiz Holding with a massive investment of USD 635 million until now.
Eti Bakır A.Ş. drilling operations for new ore reached 1,000 m as of the end of 2017 and R&D investments grew to USD 50 million, making a total of over USD 60 million of investment when added to the cost of other technology work. Eti Bakır A.Ş. was number 254 in the list of Top 500 Industrial Institutions in Turkey, compiled by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry in 2016. 2500 people are directly employed at Samsun, Küre, Murgul, Halıköy and Espiye Plants and indirect employment reaches 10,000.
